The hotel was in an excellent location, just off the freeway into Rapid City and was a 30 minute drive away from Mt Rushmore. Our room was on the 4th floor and was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet. The room was a fair size and was clean. Our room had two queen beds. The room also had a fridge with a small freezer compartment and a microwave and a safe. The bathroom had a toilet, bath with shower. The sink was separate in the main room. Free wifi was also included. The managers reception was excellent with complimentary wine/beer, soft drinks and popcorn from 6pm until 7.30 pm. Breakfast was also included in the room rate. There was a good selection available including waffles, cereals, pastries etc. The staff at the hotel were very helpful. We would recommend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere reasonable to stay near Mt Rushmore. The hotel far exceeded our expectations."

Breakfast offerings had a lot of variety and had 1-2 employees restocking/wiping tables at all times. Plenty of room to sit w/o feeling rushed so others could eat. The room kept a comfortable temp, nice fridge and bath w/ sink in the room, nice for family of 4 getting ready, housekeeping did great. NO BEDBUGS-we checked. Very clean n comfortable beds. Lobby was welcoming, spacious, yet felt cozy. The pool was a pretty small but did the job, 2 hot tubs though. Not enough chair seating but most pool hotels don't. Really close to Dinosaur Park. Won't be back to SD for sometime but will definitely stay at this hotel again when we do."

We were towing a large motorcycle trailer and there was no problem at all parking it in the parking lot. The free breakfast was a nice touch. We will definitely stay here again! The hotel is a short drive from the airport (I think they had a shuttle?) which was great because we had a 6am flight. During the week the hotel has a Manager's Reception which was a lot of fun. The hotel gave out free beer, wine, soda, and popcorn for about an hour and a half. The lady working then (I think it was Colleen) was super nice and easy to talk to. We went swimming and the pool was nice and appeared clean. The hot tub was WAY too hot to sit in but we dipped our legs in for a while. We were both surprised at how nice this place was and would stay here again if we are back in the area."

"The hotel was real nice and centrally located. The three front office people (Amber, Abby and Michele) were very courteous and extremely helpful. The breakfast room had about 10 tables. The rooms were larger than I expected, having just replaced the mattresses I have been told that the next project are flat screen TV's. The bathrooms were clean. The continental breakfast was adequate, as the only hot items were waffles and micro waved bacon, cheese and egg burritos. Great variety of cold items. The breakfast room had about 10 tables. The vending machine were great in that the items were fairly priced, i.e. can of Pepsi was only a $1. I would definitely go back to this hotel!!"

"We went there on a weekday in late October. I haven't stayed in a Howard Johnson for more than 7 years but this one was really nice, everything looked clean and new. I haven't gotten such a good deal with pool, free breakfast and free wifi for less than $60 in years. Perfect location to quickly get to the mall or to downtown, no road noise because it's just behind a small hill next to highway 16. They have you initial at check-in that there is a safe deposit fee you can have them take off your bill when you leave. Other guests complained about this here before, they probably were just not careful. It took me just a couple of minutes to have it taken off."
